This MKIII variant features an unbranded dial, a popular request among many MWC clients. The MKIII automatic is a modern recreation of the classic 1950s NATO specification watches, originally made under the UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. While it retains the vintage style of those timepieces, it incorporates a modern 24-jewel automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve and hacking function, offering greatly improved accuracy.

Due to budget constraints, modern military forces can no longer afford watches of this quality, opting instead for cheaper models that meet their needs. Historically, forces worldwide purchased watches from brands like Rolex, IWC, Omega, and Longines. Those days are gone, but many still desire a military-pattern watch with higher specifications. The MKIII fulfills this need, sparing no expense to create a superior quality product, from the high-performance movement to the brushed stainless steel 1950s/60s design case, manufactured and hand-finished in Zurich. The model also features an upgraded scratch and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating.

The watch includes a screw caseback and screw-down crown, making it highly accurate, robust, and water-resistant up to 100m (330ft).

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal:

Many people ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and people who lead active outdoor lifestyles, who comprise over 70% of our customers.

When clients experience accidents resulting in cracked crystals, over 90% of the cases involve watches with mineral glass crystals, even though we use hardened mineral crystals. Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, enhancing their strength. They also feature two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now used in the latest iPhone models. Although sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, it is typically found in higher-end watches due to its superior durability.
