MWC WWII Pattern "ATP" Watch with Cream Dial and 21 Jewel Self Winding Automatic Movement
Description
SKU Code: DD/01/AU/CD
This automatic self-winding MWC military watch is a faithful recreation of the classic 1940s design used by British forces from 1938 through WWII. As a precursor to the Dirty Dozen watches, this model retains many original features while incorporating modern upgrades. The acrylic crystal remains, but the hand-wound mechanical movement has been upgraded to a self-winding automatic movement, which can also be manually wound when required. This watch maintains its vintage appearance with discreet improvements, making it ideal for daily use.
It features a heavy stainless steel satin finish case made from Military Grade 316L stainless steel, a subsidiary second-hand dial, a hacking function, a cream dial, and luminous hands. The historically accurate canvas strap is based on those used by British forces during the 1940s.
Historical Context:
The second-to-last image showcases the original 12 "Dirty Dozen" watches, produced by companies such as Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. While this watch predates the Dirty Dozen models, it is their direct predecessor. MWC, founded in 1974, was not involved in the production of the original watches, but this recreation embodies their spirit.*
The final image shows an inspiration provided by military watch enthusiasts, requesting a design reminiscent of the original ATP watches, which featured cream dials. These ATPs had 20 variants, and they are unique as Swiss manufacturers supplied black-dialed watches to the Germans and cream-dialed watches to the British during the war. This model has already garnered significant interest from buyers seeking something truly distinctive.
